To Eat and to Die in the Garden of Good and Evil . .
Gen 1:10Genesis Ch 2: vs 16 And YHWH God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you are free to eat; 2:17 but as for the tree of knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat of it; for as soon as you eat of it, you shall die.” |
- Gd tells Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge but does not mention the reason they will “die” is because they will lose access to the Tree of Life.
- Gd will not allow humans to become gods or even godlike, both wise and immortal (Genesis 3:22), and thus expels them from the garden. (Chrisitan scholars are well aware of this).
- Outcome: the woman must bear children to perpetuate the species, and the man must till the earth to produce food.
A not-so-random update:
We are now beginning our renewal season for either donation and/or membership renewals. If you would like to be either a member or an integral part of our learning program with access to sacred texts, especially the meanings, along with the applications (both modern and ancient), then please consider joining our growing learning circle (also known as the Lerhaus Newshul: www.newshulofamerica.org).
Your involvement, your support, and/or membership all help us to be in contact with each other, to teach and to learn from each other — and importantly, to prepare for everything from our personal and private sessions, all the way to our class gatherings and more.
To join or to donate — please go to: https://newshulofamerica.or/membership. As my Grandfather was often known to say (in a rather Yiddish Accent), “it couldn’t hoiyt (hurt).” If you would like to talk it over — not a problem — and in closing, I would like to thank you for your consideration, it is all very helpful . . .
